Ok, I understand now. But this is already included in the Skipper.

When you press export and there is new changes in the migrations, Skipper automatically tell you about this and ask if new migration should be created.

So if you not see this message, you probably turned it off. Check your settings and search for this option

Laravel Model and Migration Reconcile

Often, I make changes to models and migrations on the fly while coding. I try to remember to go back into Skipper and duplicate these changes, but it would be nice if there was a tool within Skipper that would update a project by reconciling models and migrations updated/added outside of Skipper. If this tool was created, I'd expect that the skipper format would have to be strictly followed and the tool would reject updated/added models and migrations when it wasn't. Just a thought.

I have good news for you. Although it's not a TypeORM, because of more requests we decided to try to support Javascript frameworks.

At first, we implemented KnexJS support in skipper (migrations + type interfaces + table enums export).

Based on our research TypeORM is probably currently the most used ORM together with Knex, so we have plans to implement it too.

thank you for the feature suggestion.

Unfortunately, SSH tunneling isn't currently supported. We can check MYSQL drivers if they support it but I think there was some issue with that (maybe this wasn't available at all or there were some problems with that).

As an alternative, you can use Putty and SSH port tunneling, which allows you to connect to remote SSH systems and forward ports.

Regarding Navicat, what kind of support would you need? Do you mean import from Navicat format to Skipper?

Hello,

unfortunately, it's not possible to disable exporting of one association. This would lead to several inconsistencies and it would be very complicated to implement it (a lot of unnecessary IFs which could bring new errors).

But, you can split your modifications into two revisions and disable the export of the specified revision. In the first step, create tables and everything you need to be exported, in the second step, create the association. Then, in the migration manager, select the second revision and disable this revision for the export.

Was this ever solved? I too am having the same issue where I'm able to manually specify an embedded field in an entity index directly via the XML mapping, however, I'm unable to do this via Skipper, so I have to manually make the change after every export.

Further to this, where I actually want to create the index is in in a child entity, where the parent entity contains the embeddable. Either way, even on the parent I'm unable to create this index via Skipper whereas it works in Doctrine ORM XML mappings.

It would be really nice to have the ability to specify a table prefix for all Entities within a Module (Laravel based project).

For example I'm working with networking / device data;
Device (physical) Ports; which are completely different from Network (tcp/udp) Ports. So I have two models in different namespaces with the same name. I know I can change the table name per-entity, but it would be nice to be able to implement a prefix on the Module and have it applied to all entities for consistency purposes.

I.E.
Module "Network" => prefix "network"
Module "Device" => prefix "device"
Entity "Network\Port" automatically sets the table name to "networkport"
Entity "Device\Port" automatically sets the table name to "deviceport"

It's definitely on our todo list.

The current state where Skipper can read such definitions but not write is an only a temporary solution (https://support.skipper18.com/402/downloads-skipper-beta).

Unfortunately, it will be a huge job because currently all parsers/exporters are able to modify only @orm annotations. Now it will be necessary to update also non-annotations parts and modify code directly.

In discussing the data model with project stakeholders, the question always comes up at the the beginning: What do all these colors and filled/hollow shapes mean?

It would be great to have a legend explaining all the parts of the diagram like in the bottom right corner on PDF and PNG exports. Maybe it could also be a standard part of any model so that you can move it around to where it best fits your model.

I'm not sure if such a feature is a good way to go.

Currently, it's possible to disable migrations for a whole model or disable one specific migration through the migration management window.

But feature to disable migrations for one table/assoc/etc can lead to several inconsistencies in the project.

Even the current solution where is possible to disable migrations on a whole module can lead to situations when another table is referring table from the disabled module. Such associations/tables will not be correctly created through the migration process.

What is the use-case for such feature? Why you need to disable migration for one specific table? Wouldn't be a solution to create such "static" tables and disable the migration revision for it?

Hello Roberto,

currently there are only two modes of how PK/FK names are generated. Automatically by Laravel or automatically with predefined UUID values by Skipper.

You can switch for the second mode in project settings:

UUID-like PK/FK names are here because Laravel sometimes generates too long name which causing DB errors, so we decided to solve it via automatically generated uuids on Skipper side.

But is there any reason to allow also custom PK/FK names? What is the use case for such a feature?

Look at that image - a have no way to make it look better.

I try move entity card up/down. Something was changed, but it still looks bad.
And I just waste my time with that attempts to make my scheme look better.

Have a look for that case please
Entity card has point to join relation-lines. User can drag-n-drop line between points.

I don't say that i need drag-n-drop there. Just the way to work with it.
Now i have to move entity cards until all relation-lines makes full-visibility.

Please make something with it!

Hi,

unfortunately, this is a current limitation of embedded relations. Currently, it's possible to add indexes for base fields in base entities and indexes for derived fields in the derived entity. But it's not possible to add the index to the base field in the derived entity.

We have this in our todo but it's not an easy task. The problem isn't in displaying field chooser but in the correct handling of all base fields in derived entity during import/export.

Would be much nicer to generate type-hinted getters and setters from this.

Of course using FQCN for related objects would also be very nice.

Also it would be very nice to have templating control over how annotations are generated to add Symfony validation constraints for example.

Hi,

unfortunately there is a very low interest (~0.1% of users) in this feature so we decided to not to implement it right now. In case there will be larger interest we can implement it later.

Currently there is a small workaround how to support trait class:

add entity for your trait
export entity (class instead of trait will be used)
change class to trait and skipper will not touch it again.

It's because this is recommended way by ORM creators.

But if you want to change this behavior it's a pretty easy thing. Please check following link https://help.skipper18.com/expert-usage/customization/extending-templates/

where you will see how to customise new object templates. Especially feel free to check section Naming Styles and #CFU/#CFL switches.

What you're looking for is #CFUs or #CFLs depending on your needs.

You can customise this directly in Skipper configuration file but such change will be rewritten with next Skipper update. Or you can create your own extending CFG file which will be kept with next updates.

More about configuration files you can find here https://help.skipper18.com/expert-usage/customization/configuration-files/. You can store custom configurations in Skipper installation folder, user folders or project folders.

I would like to suggest another feature. A toggle that shows inherited properties. I would suggest they are lighter in color to indicate they come from a base entity. Bold or black when overriden.

This way looking at an entity that inherits would show a more complete picture.

Maybe this can be done in a combination of some global settings which turned such option on. I'm afraid to not broke existing models if someone is using :: in strings.

I'm not sure I understand this request. You want additional columns or tool to create some "magic" relation between 5 entities?

If you need additional columns, you can customise association template (https://help.skipper18.com/expert-usage/customization/extending-templates/) and add as many columns as you need to any object template.

But I don't understand how should work tool to connect 5 entities in the row. This is something which will be very difficult to implement and use too.

Hi,

I suggested to run external commands by hotkeys but this may be quicker to implement and better for such jobs.

Is it possible to add an ability to run/execute an external tool after export done? So, When we export the ORM, we can automatically execute our command to generate Getters and Setters.

Support for PSR-4 namespace when exporting to ORM

I have a Zend Framework 2 project with Doctrine 2 that is set up to use PSR-4 auto-loading:

When I configure my module's export path in Skipper, I set the 'Relative Export Path' like this: ..\..\MyApp\module\Application\src\ and set the filename format to subdirectories-by-namespace
The problem is that it exports the files to C:\...\MyApp\module\Application\src\Application\Entity\Model\User\ when I want it to be C:\...\MyApp\module\Application\src\Entity\Model\User\.

I recommend using a VCS (version control system) for this. If you initialize a Git repository for your model files, you can easily diff them, revert changes, commit versions etc. That's how we do it.

unfortunately there is currently no way how to export descriptions from Skipper to source code or anywhere else.

It's because there is no unified way how to do that and when we tried to find a possible solution there wasn't uniform opinion from our users.

In case you need to share your model descriptions with other developers give them your free Skipper viewer licenses where they can browse whole model.

As temporary solution you can add this datatype to Skipper configuration file by yourself.

Simply open file Doctrine2.skipper.cfg.xml located in SkipperDirectory/Configurations/Frameworks and add following code to line 205 (inside data-types element)

This will tell Skipper about new datatype.

you're right. Currently it isn't possible to define index via any visual tool. There are two options how to currently solve it.

Index columns order is defined by order of selecting the column checkboxes. Or you can arrange it directly in project.xml file.

We have this on our todo. I will let you know when this feature will be ready.

Hi,

Attributes overrides is already available in Skipper. Associations overrides isn't implemented yet.

Unfortunately whole override mechanism is very messy and it's not easy to implement it because of it's nature. Because of low demand of this feature (you're the first one) we have this feature on the bottom of our todo list so I can't promise any specific term.

From our point of view it's better to avoid these two features (attributes and associations override) because using it isn't a good and clean way how to create your models.

I'd like to be able to call the external tools from the context menu.

i.e. right click on an entity -> external tools -> edit in PhpStorm
i.e. right click on an entity -> external tools -> diff with previous history in PhpStorm
(phpstorm has a command line interface to invoke various functions)

The configured tools would need to access the entity's properties to create the filename.

Hi, unfortunately this is not supported now. Currently only single element by name of the created object is loaded.

So if you're creating new entity, only element is loaded. But it's a great idea to improvement, so I will mark your question as feature request.

I think it shouldn't be complicated to implement it. We will post more info to this post when beta for this feature will be ready.

I'm not sure if you're now referring to import such order from MySQL Workbench or to defining the index order inside the app.

If you're writing about index definition, Skipper do it exactly like this but the order isn't currently visualized. If you have a problems with importing this order, please send us some testing project to support@skipper18.com and we will check it.
